A lush, clean, and pet-safe lawn your dogs will love — and you won't have to maintain. No muddy paws, no bare patches, no harmful chemicals. Just a perfect garden, all year round.
Dogs are hard on lawns. Constant running, digging, urinating, and scraping turns even the most well-kept natural grass into a muddy, patchy mess within months. It is one of the most common reasons Essex homeowners come to us — and one of the most satisfying problems we solve.
Essex Artificial Grass supplies and professionally installs premium pet-friendly artificial turf for dog owners across Essex. Our Supreme range is non-toxic, fully permeable, and robust enough to handle even the most energetic breeds — while looking immaculate year-round.
Whether you have one small terrier or three large working dogs, we have the product and the expertise to install a lawn that genuinely works for your household. No more muddy paws, no more bare patches, and no more weekend mowing.

These are the six things dog owners tell us they notice within the first week of having artificial grass installed.
The single most common complaint from dog owners. Artificial grass stays clean in all weather — no mud means no dirty paw prints across your kitchen floor, ever again.
Dogs run the same routes repeatedly, creating worn tracks and bare patches on natural grass. Our artificial turf stays lush and green regardless of how hard your dog plays on it.
Natural lawns often require weed killers, pesticides, and fertilisers — all potentially dangerous to dogs. Artificial grass eliminates the need for every single one of them.
Solid waste is easy to remove without pulling up clumps of grass and mud. A regular hose-down keeps the surface hygienic and fresh. Minimal effort, maximum cleanliness.
Natural grass becomes waterlogged and unusable in wet weather. Artificial grass drains freely and is ready for your dog to use within minutes of heavy rainfall.

This is the question we hear most from pet owners, and the answer is an unqualified yes. Every product in our Supreme range is manufactured to be completely safe for dogs, cats, rabbits, and all other domestic pets.
Our artificial grass is manufactured from lead-free, non-toxic polyethylene fibres. There are no harmful substances in the product — unlike some older artificial turfs which used materials that are no longer considered safe.
Artificial grass never needs treating with chemicals. This removes one of the most significant health risks for dogs, who frequently lick their paws and roll on the lawn surface.
Dogs, like humans, can suffer from grass pollen allergies. Artificial grass eliminates grass pollen entirely, making it an excellent choice for pets with skin sensitivities or seasonal allergies.
Our Supreme range is soft enough for dogs to lie, roll, and play on comfortably. Most dogs adapt to artificial grass immediately and show no preference for natural turf when given the choice.
Our high-density Supreme range is engineered to handle repeated running, turning, and playing from even the largest and most energetic dogs. The fibres hold their shape and the surface remains level and safe.
The permeable backing and properly installed sub-base allow liquid to drain through quickly and efficiently. Urine does not pool on the surface, keeping the lawn hygienic and reducing odour significantly.
No mowing, no watering, no reseeding, no feeding, and no weed treatments. For busy dog owners, the time saved is considerable — and the lawn always looks its best regardless of the season.
Natural grass looks tired and damaged through autumn and winter — especially with a dog. Artificial grass retains its lush green appearance in every season, giving your garden genuine kerb appeal year-round.
Families with both children and dogs benefit hugely from artificial grass. The surface is clean, safe, and chemical-free — suitable for all members of the household to use together without any concern.
With our 10-year product guarantee and a professionally installed sub-base, your artificial lawn will outlast years of enthusiastic dog ownership. Compared to repeatedly reseeding and repairing natural grass, it pays for itself quickly.
Pile height and density both affect how well the grass performs under pet use. Here's how our three Supreme products compare for dog owners.
The shorter, denser pile makes this our most hard-wearing product. Ideal for energetic dogs, larger breeds, or gardens with multiple pets. Holds its shape exceptionally well under heavy use.
A great all-rounder. The 40mm pile balances softness and durability — suitable for most dogs, particularly medium or calmer breeds. Popular with families who want both comfort and performance.
The softest and most luxurious pile in our range. Best suited to smaller or less active breeds where cushioning and appearance are the priority. A beautiful finish for low-key pet households.

Artificial grass is low maintenance by design — but a simple routine keeps pet areas hygienic, odour-free, and looking their best.
A weekly hose-down is all the routine maintenance most pet owners need. The permeable backing drains water straight through, taking soluble waste with it. This keeps the surface fresh and prevents any build-up.
Pick up solid waste as you would on any surface. Artificial grass makes this easier than natural turf — no mud, no grass pulling away with the bag. Rinse the area afterwards with water for best results.
Once a month, add a pet-safe disinfectant to your rinse water. This eliminates any bacteria left behind and keeps the lawn hygienic for both your dog and your family. Specialist artificial grass cleaners are also available online.
Over time, repeated use in the same areas can flatten fibres slightly. A stiff brush or specialist artificial grass rake will lift them back up, restoring the lawn's natural-looking appearance. This only needs doing occasionally.
Most dog owners spend less than ten minutes a month on artificial grass maintenance. The rest of the time, the lawn takes care of itself — letting you and your dog simply enjoy the garden.
"We have two Labradors who destroyed every lawn we ever had. The artificial grass has been incredible — it looks exactly the same as the day it was installed. The team were brilliant from start to finish."
Mark T. — Brentwood"No more muddy paw prints all over the house. I genuinely cannot believe I didn't do this sooner. The garden looks amazing and cleaning up after the dog is so much easier."
Claire H. — Chelmsford"My dog was digging up the lawn constantly. Essex Artificial Grass sorted it completely — the surface looks perfect, the dog loves it, and I have my weekends back. Highly recommend."
James R. — RomfordEverything dog owners typically want to know before making a decision.
Yes. All artificial grass products supplied by Essex Artificial Grass are non-toxic, lead-free, and completely safe for dogs and other pets. Our Supreme range contains no harmful chemicals, and because no pesticides or fertilisers are ever needed, there is nothing in the lawn that could harm your dog.
Our Supreme range is manufactured from high-density polyethylene fibres designed to withstand heavy use from both humans and pets. Dogs running, playing, and digging will not tear or permanently damage a professionally installed artificial lawn. If fibres are flattened over time, a stiff brush will restore them.
Solid waste can be picked up easily and the area rinsed with a hosepipe. For urine, the permeable backing allows liquid to drain freely through to the sub-base, and a regular hose-down keeps the surface fresh. For odour control, a diluted pet-safe disinfectant can be added to the rinse water.
For active or larger dogs, we recommend our Supreme 35mm, which has a shorter, denser pile that handles heavy use particularly well. For less active dogs or smaller breeds, the Supreme 40mm or 45mm offer a softer, more cushioned feel underfoot. We're happy to advise during a free site visit.
A well-installed artificial lawn with a proper permeable sub-base drains efficiently and will not retain odour if maintained correctly. A regular rinse with a hosepipe and occasional use of a pet-safe disinfectant is all that is needed to keep the surface fresh and odour-free.
